Transformers: Age of Extinction: Film Review

Directed by Michael Bay, Transformers: Age of Extinction is now the 4th film of the Transformers series. With its over the top CGI Robots, Fast Cars and massive explosions, the Transformers Films always bring in the big bucks at the Box office, however does this mean the film is any good.

Plot Summary
After the events of the 3rd film ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’, the city of Chicago is still left in ruins as a result of the battle between the galactic battle between the ‘Autobots’ and the ‘Decepticons’. As humanity is left to pick up the peaces of the city, it is decided that the Transformers are no longer needed and a shadowy group emerges to hunt down and track the Autobots down and execute them. Whilst in hiding, a sick and damaged Optimus Prime finds himself in the garage of Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) and his family getting repaired until eventually tracked down. Whilst the run, a group of scientist discover a new form of metal down as ‘transformium’ which they use to develop their own army of Transformers which they can control.
Whilst on the run, Optimus Prime finds himself not only being chased by Humans, but also a Bounty Hunter Transformer from Space.

Film Review
A lot can be said about this film, but not much of it is positive. The film has no central focus and by the end of the film, there seems to be 7 different, pointless plots running at the same time, all of which aren't that interesting. With a run time of 2 hours and 45 minutes, I cannot remember how many times I was left checking at my watch, wondering when on earth this film was going to end. With a new crew of Autobots, they all have the same one dimensional characteristics and bring nothing exciting to the film. Although Mark Wahlberg provides a good performance, it really isn't enough to make this a good movie. However, for those going into Transformers: Age of Extinction to just see nearly 3 hours of excessive explosions and robots jumping around the screen, you won’t be disappointed and you'll get your moneys worth.. but for me I had to draw the line where Optus Prime falls in a paddock and even Grass explodes.

Overall, this movie makes no sense and gets so lost trying to juggle so many different plot elements that the whole audience tunes out, thus i give it a ‘Plain’ review
