American Psycho.
The story of a well educated and wealthy man by the name of Patrick Bateman is investigated through the 2000 thriller American Psycho. Through Mary Harron's visual adaptation from the original book by Bret Easton Ellis published in 1991, Patrick Batemans life as a successful banking investor in harshly contrasted with his violent and brutal alter ego he presents to the audience at night.

Review
As I have not read the original book my views of the film are based solely on the film. The film introduces our main character in a unique and spectacular way, simple daily activities of Patrick Batemans life such as morning routine and how he functions at work. On the surface, the audience is to believe that Bateman is a regular working citizen, owning his own expensive apartment and working in a prestigious banking firm but not only the audience but Bateman himself understands that there is more to him than meets the eye, 'There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman; some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me: only an entity, something illusory.'
Through the multiple murders Bateman performs even on work colleagues we as the audience can Harron gives us a beautiful cinematic experience through the tense murder scenes Bateman performs, the thrilling camera work and sound experience made me forget that this was the same Patrick Bateman that works at Pierce and Pierce. Even the simple scenes in the film are shot in such a way where they seem over the top and satirical.
Christian Bale performs the role of Patrick Bateman excellently, he embraces his character to the full whether being a narcissistic banking investor or a murderous and brutal killer. Bale is the performs the role by being the perfect mix between lust, self hatred, violence, self analysis and just the right amount of insanity.
Overall this movie is a must watch as it is an intriguing and well executed mixed bag of crime, drama and thriller. I'd give it a "SUPER SPICY"
