Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 : Film Review

Following the major hype of the 2014 'Guardians of the Galaxy', James Gunn brings the second adaptation to the Marvel Guardians series with a whole new level of excitement, of classic 1980s tunes, epic battles and humour for the whole family to enjoy.
With a Star studded casts including Chris Pratt (Star Lord/Peter Quill), Vin Diesel (Groot), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Racoon), Kurt Russel (Ego) and many many more, each cast member successfully manages to bring a unique and enjoyable feature to the big screen.

Plot Summary

After making making a name for themselves in 2014, the Guardians of the Galaxy are officially in the hero business now and have become famous across countless planets for their galaxy-saving deeds, now up for hire for any mission. However, the Guardians find out that old habits die hard during a mission in which they are hired by a genetically-engineered race of super-beings known as the Sovereigns, with one thing leading to another the Guardians soon find themselves on the run from the Sovereigns, for some not-so-heroic behaviour.

With the Guardians on the verge of being destroyed by the Sovereigns fleet, a Mystery figure known as Ego (Kurt Russel) appears to save them. Ego claims he is the long lost Father of Peter Quill (Chris Pratt). From here on the the team are split with Rocket Racoon (Bradley Cooper) and Baby Groot (Vin Diesel) left to repair the damaged ship. The rest of the team Peter, Drax (Dave Batista) and Gamora (Zoe Saldana) agree to travel to Egos Planet and learn of Peters past and the true intensions of his Father.

Review.
I had a lot of expectations going into 'The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2' due to how much I loved the first film and I was not disappointed. However, the film is not perfect and has a few let downs. About half way through the film, the film slows right down and not a great deal happens. The film also takes every opportunity to insert comedic relief even when its not needed, thus unfortunately taking the weight away from really intense and sad scenes. But, this can all be excused as when the film makes a effort to be funny, exciting and entertaining.. it succeeds with its over the top battles, character dialogue and loads of humour.

Overall, I would give the film a 'Extra Spicy' as the film offers something unique for everyone of all ages to enjoy.
